Thiscourse is very complete, and should appeal to special studentswho expect to go into office or commercial work. The de-mand for well trained office help is great, but the applicantfor a position in a commercial house must be thoroughly pre-pared. The demand for good stenographers is especially great, andthe cultured young man who takes such a position has everyopportunity for advancement. He is in close contact with themen at the head of the business houses, and if he has ability, it islikely to be recognized. Hundreds of prominent men in mer-cantile and professional circles throughout the country com-menced life as stenographers. Shorthand has been the step-ping-stone for many successful lawyers and newspaper men inthe United States, who started low and kept their eyes andears open and worked conscientiously.
