Image title | Major Rob Swertfager in the lead F-16 Fighting Falcon, flies straight as Capt. Jethrow Nearing, the wingman, of the 144th Fighter Wing, California Air National Guard, Fresno, CA, rolls out of position for a rapid decent, during an Operation Noble Eagle training patrol, on 16 March, 2004 over the skies of the San Francisco Bay Area. Transportation arteries such as the Oakland-San Francisco Bay Bridge or San Francisco's Financial District and historic Nob Hill are some of the many points of interest in this region. They and other western Air National Guard units, with the support of U.S. Air Force and Reserve units protect the skies over the western region of the United States. The aircrafts are loaded with 500 rounds for a 20mm Gatling gun, and AIM-9 Sidewinder air-to-air missiles. (U.S. Air Force photo / Master Sgt. Lance Cheung). |
