Highway map of the County of Orange, California; The State Highway route along the coast is part of the Oxnard-San Juan Capistrano ocean shore highway provided for by the 1919 State Highway bond issue and forms a link in a proposed coast road from Mexico to Oregon. Orange County in the latter part of 1919 has 146.60 miles of paved highways. Owing to its small sized and high assessed value it has been able to develop one of the most comprehensive county highway systems in California

ith every other town, in addition toproviding roads in every section where production issufficient to warrant the building of paved highways. One of the road developments of Orange County which iscreditable is that which connects with the good roadssystems of Riverside and San Bernardino Counties andsupplies an almost direct line from the mountains of theinterior to the ocean. This road, winding its way high upon the hillsides through Santa Ana Canyon, is an attractivetourist boulevard giving a twofold view of mountains onone side with valley and ocean on the other, and is of thetype of construction employed in the general county plan.In extension of this road the concrete highway known asthe Laguna Canyon road is worthy of mention, leaving the (193) (J94) The State HighwayRoute along the coast ispart of the Oxnard-SanJuan Capistrano oceanshore highway providedfor by the ipzp State High-way bond issue and formsa link in a proposed coastroad from Mexico toOregon.
