Summary edit

Description
English: The Calvert Street Bridge across Rock Creek was completed in 1891 by the Rock Creek Railway to carry streetcars from downtown Washington, D.C., to upper northwest D.C. and suburban Maryland. This photo shows the bridge after its roadway was narrowed from 40 to 25 feet and timber cribbing added to stiffen it.
