DescriptionCanyonlands National Park from United 83 (5447664954).jpg |
Canyonlands National Park near Moab, Utah, as seen from United 83 on its way from Washington Dulles to Los Angeles. The mesa in the middle is Island in the Sky, framed by the Colorado River to the east (right) and the Green River to the west (left). The eastern portion east of the Colorado, and the northern portion consisting of Island in the Sky, are accessible by vehicles from Moab, though they are far apart. The western portion west of the Green is a very remote area, and only backcountry hikers can reach there. I visited the eastern and northern portions, as well as Arches National Park also easily accessed from Moab, in July 2007. N848UA, Airbus A319-100 |
