Description

A new aquisition to Curator Branch's collection is this cap ribbon. It is silk with gold lettering and would have been worn on a straw boater by a female member of the society. The society was formed in 1908 and its membership is comprised of women who have taken part in the christening of a ship to be commissioned into the United States Navy. Information on the Society its history and current outreach programs can be found at; societyofsponsorsofusn.org/ Histories and Archives Division, Photograph section transferred the ribbon to Curator Branch. They are also re-organizing their collection and the ribbon was found housed in their files. It is thought to be dated from the early 20th century.
