CAPILLA DEL NIÑO DEL REMEDIO Dirección: Calle de los Donados, 6.

Fue construida en 1917 sobre el solar de la antigua iglesia del Hospital de Santa Catalina de los Donados, fundado en 1460 por Pedro Fernández de Lorca, tesorero del rey Juan II y secretario de Enrique IV, con la función de atender a doce hombres ancianos inválidos.

El nombre de “donados” le viene de la vestimenta que llevaban los doce ancianos, y que era la destinada a las personas que habiendo entrado en una orden religiosa no habían profesado. Estuvo bajo el patronato del prior de San Jerónimo del Escorial.

El Hospital estuvo en funcionamiento hasta que en 1856 fue transformado en Hospital de Ciegos dependiente de la beneficencia provincial, trasladándose en 1889 a Vista Alegre.

Demolido el 24 de diciembre de 1893, en su lugar se construyó en 1917 el oratorio actual, una pequeña capilla compuesta de tres cuerpos. En su interior se encuentra la imagen del Santo Niño del Remedio, una talla muy venerada por los fieles durante la celebración de la nochebuena, pues es costumbre depositarla en una cuna para su adoración.
