Summary edit

Description
English: The French town of Carency, following the Second Battle of Artois, May 1915.
Original caption
All that remains of another corner of Carency after the great battle that raged in the streets. The Germans had concealed machine-guns in almost every house, and the French could only silence these by completely devastating the buildings by artillery fire. Then, house by house, the indomitable French soldiers advanced.
