Photo of the main entrance of Cardiff Royal Infirmary, Glossop Terrace, Cardiff. Cardiff Royal Infirmary (CRI) was founded in 1883 in the Victorian era, and closed to inpatients in March 1999, marking the end of a long tradition of providing healthcare to the residents of Cardiff and beyond. The bulk of the acute services were transferred to the UHW site and a major redevelopment at that hospital facilitated the move of a number of acute services, including the Emergency Unit and the Renal Unit from CRI. A small number of outpatient clinics are now held within the shell of the building |
