Summary

edit
Description
English: The Caribou, created by the sculptor Basil Gotto, was unveiled at Bowring Park in St. John's, NL on July 1, 1928 to commemorate the Newfoundland Regiment's involvement in the First World War. The caribou is the emblem of the Newfoundland Regiment. Five identical caribou statues were made and installed at European locations where the Newfoundland Regiment fought: at Beaumont-Hamel, Monchy-le-Preux, Masnières, Gueudecourt, and Courtrai.
