English: Parade of the Norwegian Labour Service in Oslo, Norway on October 25, 1941.
  • AT General Carl Frölich Hanssen, higher officers and conscripts of the Arbeidstjenesten (AT), the Norwegian Labour Service in German-occupied Norway during World War II, perform the Nazi greeting at a labour defilation event at the Universitetsplassen Square by the Karl Johans Gate Street in Oslo, as the nazified labour service became compulsory.
  • According to Regimenting Labour in Norway During Nazi Germany's Occupation, the Labour Service in Norway, established under the Administrative Council, became compulsory for young men from April 1941 onwards. Initially presented as voluntary, it gradually followed the Nazi model of the Reichsarbeitsdienst. The service aimed to mobilize domestic labor and employed approximately 40,000 Norwegians during the occupation. Their tasks primarily involved simple physical labor rather than skilled construction work. The emphasis was on agricultural work, with a smaller percentage engaged in forestry, road construction, and relief work. The Women's Labour Service (Kvinnelig Arbeidstjeneste) also transitioned towards obligatory service, including fixed service periods in camps, starting from 1942.

  • Ifølge Aftenposten mandag 27. oktober 1941 stod samtidig «føreren» Vidkun Quisling, lederen for det norske nazistpartiet Nasjonal Samling (NS), sammen med NS-ministre, gjester fra nazi-Tysklands Reichsarbeitsdienst og andre på Aulatrappen. Arbeidstjenestens «store 4-dagers idrettsmønstring» på Bislet ble avsluttet med et stevne dagen etter.
  • Se propgandareportasje i Norsk Films revy Nr. 9 (Fimavisen 10. november 1941): Arbeidstjenestens store mønstring i Oslo: Arbeidstjenestens gutter fra hele landet har satt sitt preg på Oslo ved den store mønstringen, og de har klart å sette seg i respekt. Oppmarsjen på Karl Johan da over 1100 AT-gutter paraderte for Arbeidstjenestens sjef, general Frølich Hanssen, bidrog ytterligere til å vekke publikums beundring og begeistring for denne unge og livskraftige organisasjon som hører den nye tid til. Spaden er Arbeidstjenestens symbol, og for oss bør den være symbolet på vår sunne og sterke ungdom som er med og bygger og trygger landet.

Fra 25. september 1940 overtok Arbeidstjenesten for Administrasjonsrådets frivillige arbeidstjeneste. Nasjonal Samling (NS), Quislings tyskvennlige fascistparti var inspirert av Reichsarbeitsdienst i Nazi-Tyskland og nazifiserte tjenesten gradvis via det NS-kontrollerte Departementet for arbeidstjeneste og idrett. Ved årsskiftet 1944–1945 var 90 prosent av stabsoffiserene medlemmer i NS.
