Description

Stone sculpted reliefs depicting significant events in the history of the Shirley family. The manor of Ettington was the historic home of the Shirley family, whose ownership dates from the time of the Domesday Book. The house was remodelled between 1858 and 1862 in the High Victorian style by Evelyn Philip Shirley (1812-1882), politician, antiquary and genealogist of the Shirley family, author of a revised (second) edition of Stemmata Shirleiana, Annals of the Shirley Family [1].
