| Description |
English: Manor house dated at end of the 16th century known as "casa torcida" (lit. twisted house) in Saldaña (Palencia, Castile and León). Located in Marquis of Valdavia Square, there are two theories about its unusual shape. The first one refers that the ground subsided and in time the house's post-and-beam structure adjusted to the change. The second one states that it was built this way on purpose to facilitate the loading and unloading of grain from the first floor.
Español: Casa solariega de finales del siglo XVI conocida como “la casa torcida” en Saldaña (Palencia, Castilla y León). Situada en la plaza del marqués de la Valdavia, cuenta con dos teorías acerca de su extraña construcción. La primera es que se trata de un hundimiento del terreno y un posterior reacondicionamiento de su estructura de poste y carrera. La segunda que fue construida a propósito de esa manera para facilitar la carga y descarga de grano desde el primer piso. |
