"Vista parcial del espacio de comedor (cenatio) de la Casa del Sigma, que toma su nombre de la peculiar cabecera en forma de ábside –a la derecha- que contenía en su interior un banco semicircular (sigma o stibadium) con la superficie inclinada. En este banco, del que se conserva el arranque o cimentación en ladrillo, se recostaban el señor y sus invitados en posición radial en torno a una mesa circular alojada en el centro. Este tipo de salón, usualmente de grandes dimensiones, se desarrolló en tiempos tardíos del Imperio, como sucede en este ejemplo de Hispalis fechado en la segunda mitad del s. V. Sustituye al tradicional triclinium de forma cuadrada, característico del alto Imperio romano. El pavimento del sector excavado de la casa era de ladrillo reutilizado.
