Description

Family: Caesalpinaceae Local name(Telugu) Rella Distribution: Common in dry deciduous forests, also planted ornamentally, Found in Indian sub continent and Malaysia. 5-8mts tall deciduous trees, bark grey smooth, Leaves 15-40 cm pinnate, leaflets 4-8 pairs,leaflets thin coriaceous, Flowers yellow in 20-40 cm long, lax, pendent racemes, Sepals 5, imbricate, Petals 5 imbricate, subequal, stamens 10, all antheriferous, lower 2 larger than the others, ovary sessile, many ovuled; Pods 30-40 cm long, cylindric, indehicent, seeds numerous.

Stem bark and fruit pulp is used as laxative.
