The company hastwo mills, each containing twelve gangs of saws, and a planer depart-ment, where is planed curbing, readyto be set in the street, and mouldings,such as cornice work, etc., for build-ings. The mill contains nine planersand two lathes for turning columnsand balusters. A tramway a quarterof a mile in length, running the en-tire length of the plant, is operatedby seven electric traveling cranes.This company produces stone forbuilding purposes, curbing, flaggingand grindstones, and its buildingstone has been used in many publicbuildings throughout the UnitedStates and Canada. Indiana is an important source ofvaluable stone for building and otherpurposes. What is known as theBedford is used very extensively onaccount of its quality. A group of extensive quar-ries and mills for converting the stone into commercial forms is lo-cated at West Grove, Pa., and oper-ated by the Pennsylvania Marble andGranite Company. The quarries areof very large size and the plant isone of the most extensive in theState.
