Summary edit

Description
English: A cast of a statue head from Aphrodisias in Caria featuring Flavius Palmatus, city governor. The style is late antique: the Constantinople-inspired hairstyle, the wide weary eyes, the stubble on his lower face. It has been dated to the sixth century AD based on the titles used in the original inscription at the base of the statue. It was offered to the governor by a pater civitatis (father of the city) named Flavius Atheneus.
