Postcard of 500 Club, Bourbon Street, New Orleans, c. 1962
Description

New Orleans. Postcard view of the 500 Club on Bourbon Street, with promotional posters for burlesque performer Lilly Christine "The Cat-Girl".

Text on back of card:
"Famous Bourbon Street where tourists go slumming to see the Paris of America. Gay, daring and risque entertainment continues on thru the night."

Date Not dated. Lilly Christine "Cat-Girl" was active here late 1940s through early 1960s. Reference to "Alley Cat Twist" is presumably a reference to the hits "The Twist" (Hit by Chubby Checker in 1960 that returned to the pop charts in 1962) and "Alley Cat" (1962 hit), making 1962 or shortly after the likely date.
