A good Stenographer must be an equally good operator onthe typewriter. There is a right way to operate a typewriter,which should be learned and practised, and a wrong one, whichshould be avoided. It is just as important to acquire good habitsin typewriting as in penmanship. In this department, as in short-hand, the best results can only be secured by proper guidance onthe part of the teacher and earnest application on the part of thestudent. Each student has two periods a day for practice, and allwork is handed in for inspection and correction ; no slovenly workis tolerated. As soon as competent the student comes to thecollege office and takes practical dictation in the form of collegecorrespondence, which must be handed in perfectly transcribed onthe typewriter. All of the C. C. Cs correspondence is done bystudents. Any one receiving a letter can judge of our work. Weconsider high-grade typewriting of as much importance as short-hand.
