Caversham Court gateposts

Summary edit

Description
English: Pair of gateposts at the garden terrace in Caversham Court, Caversham, Berkshire. View from the north, looking towards the River Thames. There is a corbel made of oolitic limestone in the form of a beast's head with bulging eyes on the inside of each gatepost. These are similar to examples in Reading Museum, in the Forbury Gardens, and in the folly erected in the churchyard of St Laurences's, and are believed to come from Reading Abbey.
