Description

By executive order of the President, a Government executive board is established to coordinate a collective exhibition for the International Exhibition to be held in Philadelphia in 1876. Membership of the board is to consist of a representative from each of the Executive Departments of the Government in which there are articles suitable for exhibition.

On March 25, the nominations to the board are accepted by the President, including that of Assistant Secretary Spencer F. Baird to represent the Smithsonian. Baird will subsequently be tasked with producing all the U.S. government exhibits for the Centennial Exposition.
