| Description |
Français : Le château de Bouchout, résidence de l’impératrice Charlotte. — Ce château, situé en Flandre, dans la commune de Meise, proche de Bruxelles, est un château fort dont l’origine remonte au XIIe siècle. Il est entouré d’un magnifique parc. L’impératrice Charlotte, sœur du roi Léopold II et veuve de Maximilien d’Autriche, éphémère empereur du Mexique, fut la dernière habitante du château. Elle y résida de 1881 jusqu’à sa mort en 1927, à l’âge de 86 ans. Le roi Léopold II acheta ce château très peu de temps après l’incendie du château de Tervueren, situé seulement à quelques kilomètres l’un de l’autre. |
