| Description |
The rbcL DNA barcode for rosebay willowherb visualized in Morse Code. We wanted a compact and visually appealing way to display a DNA barcode for an arts-science project. With that in mind we wrote a computer program to create the above from a DNA sequence (FASTA file). The bases are colour coded, Morse coded and because of this height coded. This gives the viewer more information and more interest than a graph that is simply colour coded and indeed it even works in black and white. The added benefit is that comparing this strand of DNA with another becomes easy for the eye and it definitely helps to see similarity and differences.
