Summary edit

Description
English: Chantmarle Manor Named after Robert Chantmarle who held the manor in 1212, the main part of the house dates from the early part of the C17, although the north west wing to the rear is much older. John Strode purchased the old house that stood here from its then owner Christopher Cheverel in 1606. He demolished much of the old house, but retained one wing to which he added a much larger building between 1610 and 1620. The Strode family relinquished ownership in 1764, and after a succession of new owners, it became a Police Training Centre in 1951. The Centre closed in 1995, and after a period of uncertainty, it was bought by John Glare who has successfully turned Chantmarle into a Christian Resource Centre. Grade I Listed.
This is a photo of listed building number 1119452.
