Description
English: The Chaparrastique volcano erupted on Sunday, December 29th, spewing ash three miles into the air. The Suomi NPP satellite captured this image of the event on December 29, 2013 at 19:20 UTC, approximately 2 hours after the eruption began. The neighboring town of San Miguel, El Salvador has been evacuated. NOAA is monitoring the event for any potential aviation hazards.
