Description
English: Charles Paynton arrived in Boise, Idaho, in 1876 and worked as a printer and editor at The Idaho Statesman and later as an accountant and clerk in the U.S. Surveyor General's office. He also served as secretary of the volunteer firefighter's association. The Charles Paynton House (1900) in Boise is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. An earlier house built for Paynton in 1891 was converted into St. Luke's 6-bed hospital in 1902.
