English: Cast and crew of the 1924 film "Heritage of the Desert," directed by Irvin Willat, based on the novel by Zane Grey. This photograph came from the private collection of Vera Marie Schoenbaum Gebbert, daughter of the film's cinematographer, Charles Edgar Schoenbaum. I know it's the 1924 version of the film because the photo has Irvin Willat's name on the back, and the clothing of the crew looks right. Also, the 1924 film is the only one of three films where Schoenbaum filmed and Willat directed. It is hard to make out in this photograph, but Schoenbaum may be the man at center right toward the front with his hand in his right pocket, wearing a cap, and holding the camera. He was known to wear a cap of that style (see other photo). Per union rules only cinematographers could touch cameras, not even directors.
