English: East end of Chester General Station, with locomotives. View eastward, towards Manchester and Crewe; ex-LNW main lines to Chester and on to Holyhead. The scene is from above the Down and Up Main lines: LMS 0-6-0T (pilot) No. 47297 is at Platform 5 on the right, Platform 10 is on the left; on the Up Main is GWR Churchward 43XX 2-6-0 No. 5399, having backed through from the GW lines which all enter Chester General at the west end. In the left distance is Chester No. 2 Box, it and all the signals being ex-LNW. |
