Summary edit

Description
English: Chesterfield Lodge In Prince of Wales Road. The grade 2 listed Chesterfield Lodge is built of flint, brick and ashlar at ground floor level, with decorative timber and stone-dashed panels above. The pin-tiled roof features tall chimneys and a tower. Winston Churchill (1874-1965) stayed here in 1885. The house was split into two flats in 1984. In 1747 the site was owned by Cromer Hall estate. Chesterfield House (now Chesterfield Lodge) and Villas were designed by architect David Brandon RIBA (1813-1897) and built for Benjamin Bond Cabbell of Cromer Hall in 1879. The property is named after the Bond Cabbell's London home No 1, Chesterfield Gardens, just off Park Lane, Westminster, W1J. Chesterfield Lodge, Villas and Chesterfield Cottages and North and South Lodges to Cromer Hall were all built at the same time in a style that is known as cottage ornee.
