English: Unidentified child, probably at Castle Gate. Finlander--9 years old. He worked in the Castle Gate Mine near the turn of the century. He carried explosives and searched for "Bad Air" and cleaned entries from animal debris and loose coal. See also: https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/child-coal-miner/ that argues this is a staged photo with props. The Associated Press speculates that it is from 1900 and is staged: https://apnews.com/article/fact-check-child-miner-utah-photo-833906766994.
