Family: Oleaceae Syn.Linociera zeylanica. Distribution: Common in dense scrubs from coast to hills upto300mts . Limited to Peninsular India and SriLanka.Photographed at Penchala kona of Eastrenghats. Description: 2-5mts tall small evergreen trees. Leaves 3-7x2-4cm ovate-obovate, obtusely acute, base cuneate, thick, coriaceous, glaucous green. Flowers 4-5mm across, white with pink tinge, mildly fragrant in 3-5cm axillary panicles. Calyx small 4 lobed, Corolla of 4 long and 4 short lobes, connate in pairs. Stamens 2, filaments short attached to the petals at the base. Ovary 2 celled, ovules 2 in each cell. style short , stigma entire. Fruit a black ellipsoid drupe.
