Description
Français : Définition de la longueur de corde d’un profil aérodynamique.

La corde joint le bord d’attaque (point à la surface de rayon minimal[1]) au bord de fuite du profil. La longueur de corde (souvent appelée simplement "corde") est la longueur de ce segment, et non simplement du profil lui-même.

Le profil représenté ici montre une épaisseur relative ainsi qu’une cambrure très importantes. Il est utilisé pour les pales de turbine, qui évoluent avec une incidence (ou "angle d’attaque") excédant souvent 90°.

Note: l’épaisseur du profil peut être définie de différentes façons – voir File:Airfoil thickness definition.svg. La convention dite "américaine" est utilisée ici.
