| Description |
English: Choskar festival is one of the very unique and popular festivals of Monpas of Tawang district, Arunachal Pradesh. It is basically for praying Lord Buddha to provide huge harvest. Every village therefore celebrate it at their village vicinity for bumper crops. Village women carry holy scriptures on their back in procession. And other women wait for the procession to cross their homes so that they can offer water, butter tea, Chang etc to the scripture carriers. The procession thus goes at the borders of their village and perform a ritualistic dance with their scripture on their back to drive away evil spirits. The main folk then go to village Gompa and perform a beautiful dance in their ritualistic decorated traditional attire. The dance signifies driving away all evil spirits from the village and create positive and healthy atmosphere that brings joy, happiness, and prosperity to all.
