Title
Portrait study of Cecily Heron
Description
English: Cecily Heron (b. 1507) was the youngest daughter of Thomas More. In 1535, her father was executed , after refusing to sign the oath to the Act of Supremacy. Her husband, Giles Heron, was hanged for treason in 1540. This drawing is one of seven fine surviving studies drawn by Holbein for his group portrait of Thomas More's family. In the family portrait, the position of Cecily's right arm is altered so that her hand lies across her pregnant midriff.
