Title
"Grand Duke Ferdinand II de' Medici (?)"
Description
English: So-called Portrait of Ferdinando II de' Medici (1610-1670), but is probably a depiction of Ferdinand Charles, Archduke of Austria (1628-1662) (compare with image below).
description

"Ferdinando II. de' Medici (1610-1670) was the son of Grand Duke Cosimo II. of Tusany. At the age of 11, he succeeded his deceased father, first under guardianship of his mother, the Arch Duchess Maria Magdalena of Austria, and his grandmother, Christine of Lorrain. In 1634 he married Vittoria della Rovere (1622-1694), the daughter of Federico Ubaldo della Rovere, Duke of Urbino. Vittoria was the last descendant of the house of della Rovere and heiress to a large art collection that was part of her dowry. Thus 57 paintings, including works by Piero della Francesca (Portraits of Federico da Montefeltro and Battista Sforza), Raphael (Portrait of Pope Julius II.), and Titian (Venus of Urbino) became part of the art collection of the Medici and can today be seen in the Gallerie degli Uffizi in Florence."
