Description

Cladonia caroliniana (Schwein.) Tuck.

Photograph of a herbarium specimen.

Note: The stereome of Cladonia caroliniana is composed of broad, flat, cords that coalesce; while the stereome of Cladonia boryi is composed of fibrous stands.

C. caroliniana was growing on soil along Kelley Point Road in Jonesport, Washington County, Maine, USA (Lat. 44o31.9' N,   Long. 67o34.5' W); collected and identified by E.C. Uebel (No. U-218, 14 Jun 2001).
