Caption from La Gazette Drouot

"*Ce tableau a été donné à Augustin Oudart Justina (mort en 1743) par Michael Wynne comme représentant Louis XV enfant, par comparaison avec un autre portrait du dauphin, vers 1717, par ce peintre conservé au château de Versailles ("Un portrait de Louis XV dauphin, par Augustin Oudart Justina", L'estampille-L'Objet d'art, n°359, juin 2001, p.83-84). Cette attribution n'a pas été retenue par le spécialiste de l'artiste, Bruno Giulois, dans sa monographie Augustin Oudart Justina l'ambition d'un maître, 2013.

Xavier Salmon a proposé de le rendre à la Clementina dans le catalogue de l'exposition "Imagens do Soberano, Acervo do Palacio de Versahles", Sao Paulo, 2007. On peut le comparer avec le "Portrait de fillette et son page", passé en vente à Paris, Hôtel Drouot, étude Beaussant-Lefèvre, lot 38, signé et daté de 1725. Le fait que le modèle porte le collier avec un pendentif en forme de croix constituée de cinq diamants, bijou qu'on voit aussi sur d'autres portraits d'enfants de la cour de Turin (par exemple Maria Luisa Gabriella de Savoie par la Clementina (conservé au palais de chasse de Stupinigi ) confirme que ce tableau a été peint en Piémont.
