Summary edit

Description
English: Cobden at Mornington Crescent Richard Cobden 1804-1865 was Liberal anti-corn law campaigner and promoter of Free Trade. He had no connection with Camden but money was raised by public subscription for this statue to be erected here in 1868. Napoleon III made a substantial contribution. There was at one time a turnpike and a tollgate at this point - perhaps represented by the wrought-iron work below the statue which surrounds a sunken area.
