Summary edit

Description
English: Schematic showing 2 cold smokers; one is a stationary one (left) and another is movable (right). The left one has the firing chamber seperatly from the smoke chamber, the right one has the firing chamber and the smoke chamber contained in one unit. As such, the right one needs to be entirely of metal (here, a metal oil drum is used). the left one is a simple (rectangular) wooden box (perhaps best oiled in). When using a metal oil drum for the right one, use one that has not yet contained any fossil oil (the smoked food is eaten, after all).
  • 1: fire chamber (made from stone, positioned under the soil)
  • 2: metal sheet lid (can be airtight)
  • 3: metal pipe
  • 4: section of metal pipe, placed in wooden container
  • 5: container (a wooden box, perhaps oiled in, with a hinged door -similar to a refridgerator)
  • 6: grill (for placing food on; can be fixed to wooden box as it has a door anyhow)
  • 7: perforated metal baffle (distributes smoke evenly unto the food)
  • 8: bricks
  • 9: hinged metal door (for access to firing chamber)
  • 10: firing chamber-section of the oil drum
  • 11: perforated metal baffle (distributes smoke evenly unto the food)
  • 12: plywood lid (not airtight !)
  • 13: removable grill; food is suspended below this using meat hooks[1]
