| Description |
English: Column Tops The columns here are much larger than those at the Giant's Causeway, and made of much coarser rock. This suggests that they cooled much slower than the Causeway lavas. The apple was my lunch, but it came in handy to give an idea of the scale first. Assuming the apple was about 80mm in diameter, the column was well over a metre across, whereas the Causeway columns are generally only about 400mm across. |
