English: Prior to the decision on depiction of Mughal-era in original calligraphic Indian Constitution, it was initially contemplated/proposed to include images of famous poets/saints, especially of the Bhakti-movement. For that, Santiniketan artist Rammanohar (Jabalpur-born Beohar Rammanohar Sinha) painted the portrait of Goswami Tulsidas which was much appreciated. However, to depict Mughal-era instead, Akbar’s image was finally incorporated on page 132 which was painted by Nandalal Bose himself. Rammanohar later painted a similar portrait in 1954 for his own keepsake. In the 1980s, some publications printed the original portraiture on front page. It is noteworthy that Rammanohar was mentored by the revivalist modernist Indian maestro Nandalal Bose. Rammanohar was one of his favorite disciple.
