DescriptionConstructing a tapstand (8073660414).jpg |
Oxfam teams construct a new tapstand where refugees can collect water. Oxfam pumps water to tanks at the top of each hill (each tank can hold 45,000 litres) at different times of day. These then supply water to a number of tapstands spread out across the sites. The tapstands are carefully staggered so that nobody has to walk more than 100 metres to collect water. Given the hilly nature of the camp, tapstands have also been installed at different levels so that families don't have to carry heavy buckets of water up steep hills. Photo: Hassanur Sheikh/Oxfam |
