Description
English: The pit of pit latrines mostly are perforated to facilitate that the water of the excreta can infiltrate into the soil to permit that the pit doesn't get filled to fast. By this way, the urine of the excreta contaminate the ground water that is used as drinking water by a large portion of the population of Fada N'Gourma (see the pumping station in the back ground of this picture).
