Summary edit

Description Firefighters with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection’s Tulare Station and the U.S. Forest Service’s Sequoia National Forest put out a controlled burn at Success Lake near Porterville, Calif., Nov. 3, 2011. Success Lake is managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District. The exercise removed invasive weeds from the face of Success Dam and a nearby wilderness area, making maintenance and inspection easier and cheaper for the Corps, and providing hands-on training for the firefighters.
