Barca construida en 1865 en los astilleros Hermann Friedrichs Ulrichs, Bremen-Vegesak. Alemania.

Según el libro de Peter-Michael Pawlik, "Von der Weser in die Welt. Die Geschichte der Segelschiffe von Weser und Lesum und ihrer Bauwerften 1770 bis 1893", Hamburgo 1993, p. 286-287.

El ‘María’ fue la segunda de las tres barcas construidas por Ulrichs para la naviera española N. de Olaguibel de Bilbao. Posteriormente (1887) el barco navegaba al mando del Capitán Calle para Doña P. Cabices y Zuluaga, también de Bilbao.

Hacia 1889, el ‘María’ fue vendido a otro armador bilbaíno, J. A. Gorocica. En los años siguientes se nombran como propietarios a la Compañía Marítima Gorocica (gerentes Gorocica y Zabala) y Tomás Gorocica, todos ellos bilbaínos. Los capitanes eran Careaga, V. Torres, A. Arritzabalaga, J. de Oleaga y Abril. El barco estuvo en servicio hasta el siglo XX y recién fue desguazado en Barcelona en octubre de 1909.
