Summary edit
DescriptionCore section of a sectioned Rolls-Royce Turboméca Adour turbofan.jpg |
English: The core section of a sectioned Rolls-Royce Turboméca Adour turbofan displayed at the Musée de l’Air in Paris, France. Air flow is from right to left.
The two-stage turbine, left, drives both the compressor (right, painted blue) and the fan (at the front of the engine, out of frame). In the center, combustors increase the temperature and specific volume of the gas. Bypass air is ducted around the core. A tube carrying air bled from the compressor can be seen inside the bypass air duct; this bled air is used for the cooling of the second-stage turbine guide vanes. |
