Summary edit

Description
English: "Cork, Ireland, just visible at the edge of cloud on the coast." – Caption by astronaut Chris Hadfield on board the International Space Station.

This is one of a set of eight pictures of Ireland taken from earth orbit that were posted on the internet by Hadfield to celebrate Saint Patrick's Day in 2013.

The city of Cork near the south coast of Ireland is at the top right of the picture, with the town of Kinsale at bottom left, where the River Bandon flows into the Celtic Sea. The original image has been rotated 90 degrees to the left to present a more familiar orientation.
