Description
English: Noted architect, painter and engraver Louis Jean Desprez is the artist of this sulphide portrait bust of Empress Josephine of France, encased in an oval-shaped leaded glass pendant mounted with a ring for hanging. It was made in Paris in the 1820s or '30s. As seen in the "35 Centuries of Glass" gallery during a March 2022 visit to the Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, New York.
