PAINTINGS painting; portrait Portrait of a Woman Corot, Camille (1796 - 1875, French) circa 1850-1855 oil on canvas French unframed: 445 mm x 260 mm

A half-length figure, seated, of a girl at her toilet, dressing her hair. She is partly undressed and wears a voluminous skirt but her blouse covers one arm only. Her breasts however are largely concealed by her arms as she raises them to adjust her right ear ring. Her head is turned to her left and her hair is neatly coiffed with a braid across the top of her head. The background is neutral, being mainly shrubbery, but a small area at top right shows a landscape against sky.
