English: Lance Cpl. Alex L. Herrera (right) steadies a rocket pod as Lance Cpl. Rogelio A. Saenz lowers the pod with a crane while transferring the unit from one truck to another before a High Mobility Artillery Rocket System test-fire at Camp Barber, Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Feb. 15. The HIMARS is a mobile rocket system used by Battery D, 2nd Battalion, 14th Marine Regiment, a reserve battery based in El Paso, Texas. The battery is here to support Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force - Afghanistan as a fire support asset. SPMAGTF-A's mission is to conduct counterinsurgency operations, and train and mentor the Afghan national police while setting the conditions for the Afghan security forces to grow, gain effectiveness and succeed against the enemy.Herrera and Saenz are motor transport operators assigned to Btry. D's first platoon. |
